Sizing Guide

How to measure at home, what each measurement decides, and what to do when you sit between two sizes.

Start here

Denim is bought by fit and by measurement, not by guesswork.

Two figures decide almost everything: your waist and your hip. Measure both over light clothing, keep the tape level, and do not pull it tight.

Waistband height changes the size you need, so a high-waist style and a low-rise style can sit differently on the same body. Read the fit description on the product page before you compare numbers.

Sizes vary between styles. The sizes actually available are listed on each product page, and that list is the one to trust.

How to measure

Four measurements, five minutes

  1. 01Waist

    Find your natural waist

Bend to one side. The crease that forms is your natural waist — not the top of your favourite jeans. Measure around that line.

  2. 02Hip

    Measure the fullest point

Stand with your feet together and run the tape around the fullest part of your hips and seat.

  3. 03Inseam

    Measure from crotch to hem

Measure down the inside of the leg from the crotch seam to where you want the hem to sit.

  4. 04Rise

    Check where the waistband sits

Measure from the crotch seam up to the top of the waistband on a pair that already fits, and compare it with the style you are looking at.

This chart is a general guide to help you choose a starting size. It is not a garment measurement chart: denim is cut differently in each style, and the sizes available are stated on every product page.

Fit types

What each cut does

Fits in the range
FitHow it sitsUsually chosen for
Straight-legAn even width from the thigh to the hem, with a clean line.A classic shape that works with almost any footwear.
Slim fitClose through the thigh and leg, with stretch for movement.A closer silhouette that still allows you to sit and walk comfortably.
Wide-legOpens from the hip and falls straight to the hem.A longer, looser line and more room through the leg.
High-waistThe waistband sits at the natural waist rather than below it.A defined waist, and tops that are tucked in.
Stretch denimDenim woven with give, which recovers after wearing.All-day comfort, and movement without restriction.
Between two sizes

If you are on a boundary, ask before you order.

Waist measurements decide a denim size more often than hip measurements do, because the waistband is the part that has to close. Once the waist fits, denim usually softens and gives slightly with wear.

  • Waist is the deciding figure. If your waist sits at the top of one band and the bottom of the next, choose the larger size.
  • Check the cut first. A high-waist style doesn’t always need the same size as a low-rise style.
  • Email us your measurements. Tell us your waist, your hip and the style you are looking at, and we will suggest a size.
  • Exchanges are simple. If only the size is wrong, exchanging for another size in the same style is the quickest route.

Sizing questions

Four we are asked most

Should I size up or down in denim?

Choose the size that matches your measured waist. Denim relaxes slightly with wear, but a waistband that cannot close comfortably will not improve. If you sit between two sizes, take the larger one.

Do all your styles fit the same?

No. Straight-leg, slim-fit, wide-leg and high-waist cuts are patterned differently, so the same size can feel different between styles. The fit description on each product page explains how that cut sits.

How do I measure my inseam?

Measure down the inside of the leg from the crotch seam to the point where you want the hem, using a pair of trousers that already sits where you like it.

What if the size I need is not listed?

Email support@new-horizon.shop with your waist and hip measurements and the style you are looking at. We will tell you whether your size is available or expected.
